About Eric
Eric Pagán is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). He has additional training in Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. He has experience working with individuals and couples with a variety of challenges and needs.
Eric recognizes that he isn’t the “expert” on your life, YOU are. With the perspective of an outside observer and insight born of experience, he seeks to help you map out a path to pursue healing and wholeness. He believes that ignoring your heart is as dangerous as following your heart. He instead seeks to help clients understand their heart, so they can realize what’s happening in their inner world and respond out of a place of self-awareness and growth.
Eric tailors his sessions to the individual needs of clients and the issues they bring to therapy. That said, his work with clients is shaped by several therapeutic approaches.
- Strengths Focused – Eric seeks to build on existing strengths in individuals and relationships, so that clients can be affirmed in what is working and move forward into greater health.
- Family Systems – Eric’s work is based in an understanding that complex family systems deeply shape our humanity, but don’t have to define us or our outcomes.
- Emotionally Focused – Eric sees that our deepest drives to 1) connect with others 2) protect ourselves, often conflict and drive us to behave in ways that surprise even us.
- Narrative – Eric believes we are formed deeply by the stories we tell ourselves and that there can be great healing in rewriting those stories.
Eric’s life is deeply shaped by his Christian faith. He counts it a great privilege to “comfort others with the comfort that he has received” (2 Corinthians 1:4). He is equipped to explore issues of faith if it is the client’s expressed interest. That said, he welcomes clients from a variety of faith traditions and those that have rejected faith as well.
